What exactly are Facebook Deals and how do they work?

Facebook Deals are offers that you as an advertiser place on your Facebook page. They are visible to your fans and to everyone who checks in via Facebook Places. Users can claim the offer and then receive a coupon by email. The nice thing is that after claiming, the offer also appears on the pinboard of the person in question. This makes the offer visible to the friends of that person. Advertising via Facebook Deals is currently still free. Of course, Facebook hopes that companies will give the offer more attention via Facebook Ads.
